Teeth Whitening

There is no shortage of pigments in the things we eat and drink. Items like red wine, blueberries and coffee are big offenders, but teeth are exposed to minor stains from just ordinary foods. Over years, the cumulative effect of this exposure will be a slow darkening of the enamel.
Fortunately, the staining is usually reversible. Pigments can be oxidized and as that happens, the original tooth color re-emerges. The process is gradual and safe and the tooth is not changed. Only foreign pigments are removed.
The non-toxic agent used for bleaching is the same in all bleach systems. It is available in different strengths and can be used by patients at home or it can be applied in the dental office environment. Once a satisfactory shade is achieved, it is considered a permanent change. Because stains are always with us, it is well to plan on periodically refreshing the result with a quick retreatment, usually at home.
If you have noticed change in the brightness of your smile, it may be time to consider whitening. It is easy and economical to get started. For those around you, we have gift cards. Just call.
